International Special Training Center

1974

The history of ISTC (formerly ILRRPS) dates back to 1974 when, at a EURO-NATO Army Sub-Group Conference, it was suggested to centralize the training of LRRP units and Special Forces in a joint training facility.

1979

The International Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol School (ILRRPS) established at NEUHAUSEN OB ECK.

1980

January

ILRRPS moved from NEUHAUSEN OB ECK to WEINGARTEN, DEU to offer better training facilities.

1980

April

Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom signed the first MOU.

1981

Greece joined the MOU.

1986

USA joined the MOU.

1989

Norway joined the MOU.

1991

Italy joined the MOU.

1992

The Netherlands joined the MOU.

1994

Denmark joined the MOU.

1999

Turkey joined the MOU.

2000

UK pulled out and the US took over as Lead Nation.

2001

ILRRPS became ISTC.

2017

Denmark pulled out.
