The International Special Training Centre (ISTC) is a multinational Education and Training Facility (ETF) based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), undersigned by the nine member nations (Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey, Romania, and the USA in the role of the Lead Nation). It aims to provide advanced and specialized training, at the tactical level, for Special Operations Forces (SOF) and similar units from the MoU, NATO and Partnership for Peace (PfP) nations. ISTC is co-located in the same barracks (Staufer Kaserne) with the German national Special Operations Training Centre (SOTC).

Since 1979, the International Special Training Centre (ISTC) provides advanced, specialized training for Special Operations Forces (SOF) and similar units in the vicinity of Pfullendorf, Germany in order to increase capability & interoperability among the nine signatory nations (BEL, DEU, ITA, GRC, NLD, NOR, TUR, USA and ROU) as well as other NATO Allies and Partners using the “Smart Defence” strategy.
